Empty Nest
mixed media (paper, copper tubing, aged metal, permanent ink)
I am a self-taught mixed media artist. I enjoy creating collage, assemblage, and altered art from found imagery and recycled objects.
Much of my inspiration comes from old photos of my ancestors or of “found” ancestors in my personal collection. In my art, I like to combine vintage memories with a touch of whimsical humor to unite the past with the present. I thrill at the hunt for treasures that are waiting to be discovered at estate sales and flea markets. My passion is to breathe new life into bits and pieces of old, worn and forgotten elements, incorporating them into my art work.
My art has been featured in numerous art magazines, and published in the very popular book called “Altered Art” by Lark Book Publisher. I was a featured artist on HGTV’s, “That’s Clever!” and also a featured guest artist at the St. Louis City Museum.
