Caroline Anderson
Caroline Anderson’s panel prints are intensely colored, irregularly built grids thickly crusted with stenciled paint and modeling paste. A visual excavation of the surfaces reveals layered successive configurations of structures, some floating on oceans of black oil.
The imagery speaks of Anderson ‘s growing anxiety over our collective environmental consciousness. Shapes don’t quite line up, and what is expressed in the first layers has little to do with what is layered on top of them. These visual traffic jams find legibility in today’s culture where every decision – however well or ill considered – forever effects what follows.
