Discarded Things
stoneware, porcelain, found objects
My work generates from the idea of potential: both realized and unrealized. I frequently use images of babies, old people, and other symbols of growth and change as a way to explore this idea.
Much of my work focuses on intellectual, spiritual, and psychological potential. I employ religiously and mythologically colored images to evoke ideas about successes and failures in the quest for enlightenment.
Emergence, loss, anxiety, and the search for the spiritual self are themes that recur in my pieces. Almost always using figurative vehicles, I try to tell a story that will elicit an emotional response in the viewers and also help them to take a deeper look into themselves.
