mixed on wood panel
The 2006 “Transformation” series was inspired by a close up photo I found of an “eye” on a moth wing; it was decayed and organic yet beautiful and alive. The wing was a translucent green. It was the inspiration for this series of work. I paint on wood panel which I coat with dress pattern paper. I then lay down textured paper, coating it with a rust medium. I layer acrylic paint until I have the color the way I want it. The applied high gloss finish medium separates the layers of paint which adds to the depth that I am continually exploring and creating. I would hope that this series sparks a dialogue within us to explore our relationship to the natural world and its laws.
