ARTIST STATEMENT
Bonnie Katz’s work is inspired from observing behaviors and characteristics of the animal world around her. Katz is an artist who works between creating mixed-media drawings and ceramic sculpture. Both mediums are in constant dialogue with each other. Charcoal drawings that explore movement through shape and texture inspire forms are then reinterpreted into soft clay slabs that make up the ceramic pieces.
Bonnie Katz is an artist and teacher within the Chicago arts community. Currently she teaches at the Evanston Art Center as well as having taught at universities, public and private schools, and outreach programs.
Katz received her BFA from Washington University in St. Louis and an MFA from the New York State college Of Ceramics at Alfred University. Her work has been exhibited in local and national exhibitions.
