Powder Circles
baking tissue (wax, paper), flour
6 x 72 x 72 in.
Powder Circles is a piece that attempts to investigate women’s role in domestic life–a typical task, baking. The piece utilizes everyday materials that is found in the kitchen: baking tissue and all purpose flour. The circles, like continuation and completions of tasks in life, contain hollow spaces; flour, the residue of domestic life, is settled both inside and out. The translucency of the wax tissue paper and the wrinkled texture brings a sense of the past and memory of home and family. Used, forgotten, yet through the transformation of the spatial arrangement, creates a serene space that is simple and beautiful.
