pigmented pulp
32 x 20 in.

I work with the medium of handmade paper for the pure tactile pleasure of it. I am compelled to make art out of the “stuff” of the world: organic matter from my garden, found objects, ephemera.

I make paper from a variety of materials, including glagiola and iris, and also work directly with processed fiber (before it is made into paper). I add pigments to some pulps, and others are left their natural colors. I mix my media, combining papermaking, painting, collage, transfer, and prismacolor as I build up my pieces in layers.
