ARTIST STATEMENT
As an artist of Iranian heritage, I am compelled to use my art as a platform for social commentary and to bring attention to the ongoing issues in Iran. Through my artwork, I aim to amplify the voices of those fighting for human rights and raise awareness about the need for fundamental change in the country. My work is a form of protest and resistance against oppression in Iran and expresses my solidarity with the Iranian people and their struggle for fundamental change.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Audineh Asaf is an interdisciplinary artist based in Seattle. She incorporates a wide-ranging and ever-evolving assortment of processes, materials, and techniques utilizing non-traditional and hybrid methods of drawing, painting, printmaking, photography, and collage.
In light of the current Iranian uprising, she has used her art to amplify the voices and visibility of the protestors. Her art series Woman. Life. Freedom. received the 2022 Future Art Awards from MOZAIK Philanthropy and was exhibited at the Jacob Lawrence Gallery in Seattle, WA, and Culture Lab LIC in Queens, NY.
Audineh holds a BA in Interdisciplinary Visual Art from the University of Washington and an MFA in Interdisciplinary Art from Goddard College. She is currently faculty and Chair of the Art department at Edmonds College.
