Anya Leveille
My work is abstract, themes taken from the textures of place; blurry reflections of water and algae, the overlapping clash that somehow melds together in a local’s rust-eaten door. The surface is hidden and exposed through the techniques of ‘conceal and reveal’; using tools for expressive texture. These include oil and cold wax, Venetian plaster, marble dust, natural pigments, oil sticks, sand, dry pigments from Cyprus, and powdered French minerals. And yet, even this is not a complete list as there is always something new to be discovered when working with textures.
