ARTIST STATEMENT
Meditation and prayer are portals of inspiration and understanding. Meaning is revealed slowly, becoming the breath of poems written to accompany each piece. My process is an ever flowing cycle of discovery and expression. The results are simultaneously personal and universal.
My intention is to express the energy of virtue through moving color grounded in feminine form. Deep blues, angelic faces and archetypal shapes are hallmarks of my work. Symbiotic relationships between paintings await discovery by those who look closely. It is my hope that the joy that flows through all creation finds it way to you.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
A lifelong artist, Angela began creating large scale paintings as a way to rediscover herself in the midst of motherhood. Before long, her paintings took over the house, and she knew it was time to share her deeply personal paintings. An encounter with her work includes poetry she writes to accompany her virtue-themed paintings. The experience is often described as “more than art,” and her work attracts collectors who resonate energetically with her work.
Angela lives in St. Louis and exhibits throughout St. Louis, Chicago and Kansas City. Her work is in both private and public collections. For the past four years her art has been featured in an international calendar for spiritual art. Her background is in graphic design and illustration for the childrens market. Her book Remembering Mama is still in circulation after 20 years. Her B.A. is from the Art Academy of Cincinnati, although her deepest education has come from melding her spiritual and artistic life.
