My obsession is light. Light as it enters a room. Light reflecting from a wall. Light creating shadows in the corner. Light interacting with our daily lives. For the past seven years my obsession has grown into a body of work that seeks to reveal truth through captured segments of light. This truth has been expressed through my experience as a woman, an immigrant and an Ethiopian.

To me, life can be summed up in a single frame. People will look at my work and through their comments I understand the importance of creating images free of suffering or misery. It becomes more evident to me that the complexity of our existence is universal regardless of the boundaries set by our minds. The images I strive to capture are just the beginning of bridges to understanding.
