Front and center in the living room of our homes for decades and now often in every room and beyond, the television screen stands like an animated idol in our lives: a contemporary totem or our “Ojo de Dios”. The ubiquitous television has brought the public into our private lives and the private into the public sphere. It now more than ever blurs and confuses what is real and what is fiction.
Part of a larger body of work, Doubt/Beautiful Wounds uses bits and pieces of visual history, the “stones and bones” of memory to suggest a narrative, remix our stories and attempt to engage the viewers associative responses: memories and stories that are at once forgotten but familiar.
