ABOUT THE ARTIST
Isabel Axon-Sanchez is a Mexican American artist who explores the politics of discomfort through figurative art. She has a BFA in painting from PennWest Edinboro and an MA in Arts Administration and Policy from School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her paintings explore the human fear of exposure. She is is currently focusing on the cultural and emotional significance of hand gestures because they often reveal subconscious tendencies. Isabel is influenced by Mayan mythology as well as fantasy, science fiction and horror literature.
