ARTIST STATEMENT
The botanical world with its endless offerings of color, texture, line, form and energy, represents to me a microcosm of the universe and cycles of relationships as well as their quest for survival and eventual senescence and rebirth. I invite the viewer to see the beauty and intricacy of plants and invite a contemplation of their relevance and ours in the social order of our universe.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
I am an abstract artist working in several mediums including paper, acrylics and wood. My work has been exhibited at several Midwest galleries including the Indianapolis Art Center; Artlink Fort Wayne; and the Midwest Museum of American Art. My art often incorporates and explores elements from nature. I continually work to create new boundaries, and to explore the power of the visual form. I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. After more than forty years in Chicago as a commercial graphic designer and raising my family, I became free to explore my own creative goals. My husband and I now live on a beautiful lake in northern Indiana where I maintain a studio. I am an active member of the Indiana Women’s Caucus for Art, and a volunteer docent at the Fort Wayne Museum of Art helping introduce the power of art to a new generation.
