ARTIST STATEMENT
In my work, I explore the intricate connection between feminine organic forms and the natural world, celebrating the beauty and resilience found in both. Nature, with its fluid lines and vibrant colors, serves as my primary inspiration, particularly the delicate elegance of butterflies. These creatures symbolize transformation and renewal, embodying the journey of growth and change that resonates deeply with femininity. Through my art, I aim to capture the ephemeral beauty of these moments, reflecting the harmony between the softness of organic shapes and the strength of nature.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Nicole Marie Hagg is a visual artist, painter, and life model from Chicago, Illinois. She is currently seeking her Master of Fine Arts degree at Columbia College Chicago. Her work concentrates on celebrating the female body and organic forms found in nature. She uses unique abstract patterns of color and texture to help form her figures in bold ways. She is a proud woman and mother and often uses her own body for references in her work to engage aspects of the female body, anatomy, empowerment, motherhood, and body acceptance. Her work has been featured at the Las Laguna Art Gallery Painterly online exhibition, the I Am Women group exhibition at the DragonFly Gallery in Chicago, and she recently finished participating as an artist for the Brushes with Cancer Program. This program paired her with a cancer patient to create a unique piece of artwork for charity.
