ARTIST STATEMENT
As an artist, my mission is to use art as a reflection of the current social climate, focusing on raising awareness about social injustice and inspiring action. My latest works invite viewers to see their reflections within the paintings, urging them to engage with the issues I address. My process begins with researching current events and global protest movements, identifying critical causes that compel me to raise awareness. I employ a figurative approach to ensure my message resonates with a diverse audience. Using large, modular surfaces, I sketch figural narratives and define them with black paint before incorporating reflective media. By using tracing paper templates, I cut mirrored shapes and affix them to the canvas, creating a dynamic balance of movement and color. The reflective elements place viewers directly into the narrative, emphasizing that everyone is impacted by injustice, regardless of how distant the issue may seem. My work aims to spotlight contemporary issues while encouraging a call for positive change.
