ARTIST STATEMENT
These fiber pieces are from a series of abstract wall hangings. This series is comprised of organic freeform crochet tapestries named after cards from the major arcana. When creating my Tarot Tapestries, I do not know how they will look when completed until they are pinned up after I’ve finished them. These pieces are made through a meditative process over several sessions where I intuitively stitch, change colors, and increase or decrease the rows. The final step once a piece has been pinned in its final orientation is to allow my tarot deck to name the piece.
