ARTIST STATEMENT
My paintings and works on paper are explorations into the duality that inherently coexists between things in the natural world. I am interested in this interplay between the seen and unseen, the known and unknown, processes such as revealing and concealing, illness and wellness and the fluidity of memory and time.
The foundation of each image contains a measured, underlying structure that is seeking to connect and define the space. Layered transparencies of color are added to build the color up slowly, allowing the images to emerge from the deep space. Light is an important element in the pieces; light as source; subject and content.
