ARTIST STATEMENT
I’m fascinated with experimenting with technology and manipulating moving images as a way to explore themes of memory, environmentalism, and contemporary anxiety. Lately I’ve been looking at methods of pulling two dimensional forms of documentation like photography and video into three dimensional spaces to create ephemeral digital sculptures. The volumetric cinema pieces imitate software used for medical scanning and imaging, but instead this technique is used for attempts to flesh out the anatomy of a short video clip where time is both slowed and looped and every expression is solidified and melting into time based sculptural project. Additionally I’ve been experimenting with wrapping three dimensional objects in animation software with video “skins” which explore the way external environments haunt and shape the virtual.
