ARTIST STATEMENT
I am a Chicago native. I have exhibited in local galleries, taverns, showcase venues, library and village halls.
My art is deeply personal, inspired by nature, the City lakefront and basically the world around me. I am working in a wide variety of mediums, including but not limited to weaving, photography, painting, drawing, found objects and digital imaging. I have a large body of work spanning several decades. I challenge myself in all available materials and techniques. I am constantly at work seeing, drawing, weaving, photographing, creating works in an attempt to share my interpretations of my everyday experiences. In general, my works are fun, colorful and provide the viewer a new take on what is seen everyday.
I am a seasoned sailor spending summers in Chicago on my boat in Montrose Harbor.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
My work “Lost View” pays tribute to forest preserve surroundings, the loss felt after the death of my parents and the sale of the home I grew up with my nine siblings. Living in a forest preserve in Chicago was fundamental in shaping my world view and a constant inspiration for my art. I have attempted to capture and illustrate my feelings for our forest, pay tribute to my parent’s decades long fight to save local forests/trees from prairie activists’ attempting to replace them with grass by founding a local non profit “Trees for Life.”
