ARTIST STATEMENT
In my works, I allow the subconscious to dictate the picture created while employing consciously worldly and artistic influences through composition and material choice. Found objects that have been gathered on sidewalks or in alleyways hold secret past lives, a weight that becomes equally as much a medium as the object itself. Taking after the practice of walking to generate both material and inspiration used by artist groups such as the Surrealists and Fluxus, my work reflects chance and happenstance all around us in the world. By noticing the little things such as natural compositions of litter or the color palettes of scratch off lottery tickets, every memory of these moments become stored in the subconscious mind. Like kinetic potential, the compilation of living in the world we do then manifests itself in these assemblages and collages.
