Red Bodies I, emulating thick red fluid, trickles down to the ground from the solid surface of a wall, pushing its way out slowly expanding into a large pool. Its continual expansion widens it and even creates more—forming smaller thick bodies of red pools. Despite the demeaning words it has been branded with for centuries, it keeps growing bigger, gaining momentum, purging and becoming more.
My invaluable experience of listening and talking with these devadasi women victims, and my research on the global context of misogyny within all major faith, led me to the trauma women have been subject to, and their strength to rise and overcome.
