girlinabox: selfies: Bad Mad Sad series

I am a media artist working from an intuitive space in these “selfie” drawn images. Playing with the idea of drawing a “selfie”, (instead of making a photograph), as an intimate gesture, allowed me to express the feeling of being isolated politically, naked and exposed. Juxtaposed with the BAD, MAD SAD prints created by pounding metal stamps for printing, (which really helped express some of my anger). Both are combined then manipulated and printed digitally as monoprints/artist proofs, (a beginning instead of an end). The archival digital prints are mounted on wood.
