My work invokes spirit and paradise thus inducing pleasure by embracing beauty in abstract ornament through “outrageous elegance”. “Outrageous elegance”, a Buddhist concept, describes a manner that is neither too cold (elegance alone) nor too wild (outrageous alone).

The “Wall Blossom’s” in this series are made of faceted plastic beads of varying sizes strung by wire, wrapped onto a spool base and woven into relief. These sculptures reference a pastiche of styles from American folk art of my Appalachian roots, to my fascination with Islamic, Asian, Italian, and Contemporary Art. My work addresses the human condition through pleasure and beauty.
