ARTIST STATEMENT
“American Miscarriage” was finalized in June 2022 when Roe V Wade was overturned. This piece alludes to the disintegration and loss of women’s bodily autonomy as I tore apart various paintings of mine to make it. The triangular, symmetrical shape going in on itself can be viewed as a simple abstraction of the uterus as well as a torn apart flag.
