The health of our environment and our local communities has been great losses that come to mind for this exhibition.

“On May 31st, I witnessed rioting firsthand in my neighborhood of South Shore driving on 76th Street towards Stoney Island Ave. It was a slow motion realization of trauma seeing chaotic scrambling over boxes of merchandise. I went to my art supplies to cope with my overactive root chakra responding to seeing my community hurting.

This quarantine situation has generated mass fear of people leaving their homes. The same corporations creating dependencies of ordering online, want us to believe they are antiracist and care about Black lives or the environment. People are being exploited by their dependency of buying objects. The recent fires in the Amazon forest devastated our environment and it wasn’t given the same assertive attention and so much more is at stake.”
