“I create collages and assemblages, because they allow me to explore the ambiguities of power, religion and sex, while recycling man-and nature-made leftovers, rediscovering and rearranging the familiar, telling unfinished stories. AFRICA refers to any enslavement not just slavery.”
Born in Bad Nauheim, Germany Ursula Kammer-Fox came to the US during the 60s and took two 6-week courses at Santa Monica College in collage and assemblage. Realizing that art is another language, she fell in love with it, worked hard, and started exhibiting in 1994.
