ARTIST STATEMENT
Three main passions have remained fixed since I was a child: painting, collecting, and playing video games. Handheld gaming especially drew me in, as I could also collect the devices. These portable devices we’re traveling companions, personal escapes, and a small touch of cyborgism.
Like rituals powered by intent, these play-objects powered by imagination (and AA batteries) had a big impact on my relationship with technology growing up. In my work about nostalgia and tech, I use color to express the comfort in nostalgia, the brighter misremembering of things from the past, and the bigger joys that these small objects can summon.
