ARTIST STATEMENT
What happens when a woman reaches an age where she is cast aside, her talents, value and life experience ignored. There’s an underlying resentment that grows into silent fantasies.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
My work offers a whimsical view of our inner thoughts and emotions. Topics such as fear of change, day dreams, annoyance, or desire to be magically transported elsewhere are depicted in a dreamy, fantastical way. I find inspiration in Outsider Art and all forms of art that tell a story. As a child my mother shared a book called “A Boy A Dog and A Frog.” It was a picture book with beautiful illustrations, but it had no words to read. It gave us, the kids, the opportunity to interpret the images and tell the story, even though we could not read yet. I have always been drawn to art that tells a story, and this book had a large influence on me. The stories I paint may not be the stories others see, and for me, that is the joy of it.
