I am an artist who is preoccupied with the genre of painting, its relationship to modernist abstraction, and the contemporary issues of consumerism and identity construction. I emphasize the objectness and decorative characteristics of the medium to reveal its associations with interior design and style. I am both critiquing the modernist notion of originality and expressing the anxiety but inescapable desire of defining the self through objects of consumption.
