ARTIST STATEMENT
I am a multidisciplinary artist and educator living in Chicago. I work primarily in upcycled materials and currently I am exploring the reuse of collectible porcelain dolls. I am challenging myself to use the entire doll as a creative exercise in reuse and conservation. As I alter and attempt to assign new meaning to the materials, I can share my own experiences with consumer culture and collecting that may perpetuate or shine a light on outdated standards of beauty and femininity.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
I am an artist, teacher and mother currently residing in Chicago. My art practice centers on using reclaimed thrift store finds and craft materials I use in my teaching practice. Cheap and plentiful, these materials are the inspiration for my work. They ask me to tell another story, often in contradiction to their original intent. I share my art in galleries, art fairs and social media.
