ARTIST STATEMENT
I endeavor to look back at the canon of art history through a critical lens; we have a lot of work to do.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Scarlett Ford examines contemporary issues such as women’s role in art history, reparative histories and sustainability with a social critique. Through her work she tries to raise awareness of these issues and use the power of art to help with them. Her artwork covers a range of interdisciplinary forms (cyanotypes, video, film photography). Scarlett also has a podcast called Feel Free Creatively where she discusses creativity and interviews members of the creative industries. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally in New York City and Chicago. She has also taken part in the BLAST! CREATIVE NETWORK + EXPOSURE PHOTOGRAPHY FESTIVAL: ONLINE CRIT with the Exposure Festival in Alberta, Canada, and Noorderlicht Photography Festival. She has worked with multiple arts organisations such as Multistory and Arts Connect who both gifted her bursaries, as well as the British Art Show. Currently she is a Level 6 Fine Art student at the Wolverhampton School of Art, University of Wolverhampton.
