Trash is everywhere. In the past 50 years, the use of plastic increased 20-fold across the globe. Pound for pound, the oceans will contain more plastic than fish by 2050. My work looks at our external and internal environments and visions, examining the harsh truths behind the growing emergencies facing our country and the world. We are facing climate change, plastic pollution, and a pandemic. It is important to remember that what’s hurting the planet remains essential. Still, I make room for beauty as I use these earth-destroying materials–non-recyclable trash–to tell the story.
