ARTIST STATEMENT
Struggling with untreated mental illness as a child was difficult, but the weight of the global pandemic became too much to bear.
While the virus didn’t infect me my anxiety did. I began to self isolate in my college dorm room. In “Isolation” The only thing to bring me comfort was a stuff bear my boyfriend had given me. I was 2,000 miles away from home and my social life was nonexistent. I was unable to recognize the person I had become.
Mental health is a crisis that is currently an ongoing struggle for many young adults and children. Your feelings and emotions are valid. I am here today because of my own determination to thrive and not just survive.
