ARTIST STATEMENT
The world continues to prey on itself , from one country to another. I feel fear deep in my heart. It hides the light, forces me to live in the dark, to see the shape of things the way they are. Alone in my studio I begin.
My paintings evolve from an intuitive place. Only after a painting is finished can I see it. I could not see these paintings when it was light. Painting what I feel helps me to be real and, in this case, helps me pray, Pray for Peace.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
My real education started when I returned to college. I left school early on to pursue a career in drugs and alcohol which led down dark alleys and rides in police cars. After time spent in a recovery institution I returned to undergraduate school to finish my BA. I became passionate about art , about war, about Barbie, about feminism. I went on to receive an MFA and later a PhD in woman’s art and art history. My dissertation was written on Barbie, Brains, and Bricolage. 25 years later my life is still about Barbie, Patriarchy, profit and war. I live in my birth state, Vermont. I own a gallery and live in the same building in Brandon,Vermont. I show contemporary art, hold talks, and music events
