ARTIST STATEMENT
I explore the quiet, layered ways women engage with care, through ritual, memory, exhaustion, and reflection. I’m drawn to forms of care that are often overlooked but deeply felt, especially the inner work of holding oneself together in demanding environments. For me, care is not always gentle or sentimental; it is often quiet persistence.
In She Sleeps in Color, I depict a woman in a moment of pause, held between retreat and restoration. Her stillness is not passive, but protective. The textures are soft and dreamlike, with intentional blurring that mirrors the way care can feel: sharp and present on the inside, but hard to define from the outside. This piece is part of a larger exploration of how women hold strength in subtle, enduring ways.
