ARTIST STATEMENT
I work with cloth and stitch by employing the sewing machine as both a construction tool and a drawing tool. Images of women are central to my practice. Themes of memory, current happenings, and portraiture are all present in my narrative.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Peggy Blei Hracho received her BFA from the Atlanta College of Art in 1985 with concentrations in Sculpture and Printmaking. For more than thirty years, she has been working in the medium of fiber, pushing the boundaries of the traditional quilt. Her work is primarily involved with the female image and society’s perception of being female. She has shown both nationally and internationally and has work in several private collections.
