CHICAGO — Woman Made Gallery (WMG) presents a solo show with select works by New Mexico artist Claudia Kleefeld. The exhibition includes paintings, drawings, installation, writings and found nature objects, all inspired by the Spiral.
The Spiral is the oldest symbol of all ancient civilizations, dating back at a minimum to the Nazca Lines in Peru and Stonehenge in England. In this exhibit, Kleefeld focuses on this Spiral symbol, found in our Fingerprint, a Spider’s Web, in the Cosmos, in the Pinecone, and on Rocks ~ to name only a few examples.
The artist has exhibited internationally in Beijing, China; Budapest, Hungary; and Vancouver, Canada, and nationally at the Los Angeles County Art Museum; Harwood Museum; New Mexico Museum of Art; Holter Art Museum, among others. She received degrees in art from UCLA, and The Byam Shaw School of Art in London. A selection of this body of work will travel to Los Angeles, California for an exhibition at LA Artcore in December 2012.
