Its continent is vast and the traditions diverse so it is difficult to generalize the ethnic religions of Africa. The human existence is questioned by Africans. Though aware of the divine and has developed their own symbolic universe. Humanity is defined through the development of unique symbolic beliefs and practices. African religions are interpreted as basic because it intersects man with its physical environment. Nature is the catalyst that offers the parables for the mystery of human existence. As Aime’ Ce’saire, a Caribbean poet has pronounced, “Man is flesh of the world.” Man’s physical environment is an extension of the human body. The rhythms of human life intersect with the seasons and the natural cycles of nature.
