“Ecocide” is part of the series “Sacred Ecology”, which is inspired by nature and concerned with ecological disaster. The paintings in this series confront the viewer with the anxiety over global warming, overpopulation, and species extinction, and with the hope of creating a global environmental ethic based on the connection of living things. The portcullis motif represents nature’s last defense from attack.

The paintings are mixed media on canvas with layers of acrylic paint, handmade paper, cloth, organics, metal, ceramics, glass and found objects for the viewer to discover. Digital prints of earlier work are incorporated into the paintings.
