The everyday in nature, the comfort of sameness and delight of discovery, its accidents of weather and erosion, patterns of growth and decay, is the foundation of my work. The juxtaposition of animate and once animate suggests historical events, visualizes stories of influence and consanguinity. Rather than recreate abstraction in nature, by looking closer, in collusion with imagination, my painting and drawings investigate the dispersion of organic form to shape and line. Nature is universal and scopic; my work reduces to personal and intimate.
