My work starts with the creation of an encaustic monotype. First, I draw, using encaustic paint, on a heated plate of anodized aluminum. After making my drawing on the heated plate, I press paper on the plate to make the print. This process can be repeated to make additions to the resulting imagery.

My son is a physicist and studies gravitational waves and black holes, and I have been influenced by his work. Much of my imagery is meant to evoke a sense of these mysteries of the universe.
