ARTIST STATEMENT
I am a printmaker and mixed media artist. My current work involves a process that integrates encaustic monotypes with mixed media.
I practice a form of “asemic writing” which is a kind of invented calligraphy. My work features seeming-symbols that evoke real letters, musical notes, and real scientific equations. These seeming-symbols are gestural abstractions that invite the viewer to project a variety of meanings into the work.
In my “Conversation Series”, I cut the encaustic monotypes up. The pieces are ‘stitched’ together with staples to create a new image and create a paper sculpture that hangs off the wall.
