I work with handmade paper and love to push the materials, resulting in a process that can take days or weeks with no assured outcome, narrowing down to a moment of truth. These risky processes often echo the intent of the works.
The “Blood Root” series came from the intersection of overbeaten (high-shrinkage) abaca pulp and the heated floor of the Meadow Studio at the Ragdale Foundation in Lake Forest, Illinois.
