ARTIST STATEMENT
I have been making paintings and art for approximately 30 years. My observations and experiences in nature drive my artwork and content. I’m intrigued and fascinated by the design, texture and color of plants and animals that I find in nature, so much of which is missed by a passerby. I extract the energy that I find in nature and create images that I hope will make the passerby pause if only for a moment and reflect and be reminded of the world they live in and its beauty.
I am constantly experimenting and creating art that interests me and that I find enjoyable to create. The sections of my website reflect those interests and go back several years. You will see a reoccurring theme of bold color and pattern that I’m constantly evolving and modifying.
Currently I’m focusing on painting in gouache and hand painted wood cut prints or monotypes. My paintings are done with gouache on watercolor paper using very fine brushes to create the fine detail and patterns. My wood cuts prints start with a black print that I paint using gouache.
