These photographs are from a series entitled “Columbus Hospital” and were taken in the empty spaces of the former Chicago hospital, which was closed to make way for luxury condominiums. The subject matter is minimal: traces of a moment once present. The jetsam left in the wake of the departing staff recall a happier time, when the space was integral to the lifeblood of the community. The images remind to cherish things of value; a snapshot of a place frozen in it’s decent into rubble. All that a photograph can say is “this was.”
