Sudden Enlightenment
acrylic on synthetic paper
26 x 20 in.

We are a speck of dust — occupying an infinitely small space and time in the cosmos. My paintings express “qi” (the life force) within the “tao” (the way of the universe). Influences include Chinese and Japanese art, Kandinsky and the abstract expressionists.

My work is purposely ambiguous, encouraging people to apply their own cognitive and emotional experiences as they find meaning in the images.

I use synthetic paper, which resists the thinly applied acrylic paint, causing puddles and areas of emptiness.
