Retelling (1999)
matzah and mixed media
The single most pervasive form of prejudice was the Holocaust, which murdered 6 million Jews as well as Gypsies, homosexuals and other “undesirables.” My Yizkor series (1998-2000) explores themes of memory and absence by particularizing the loss to that of my own family members. Materials are chosen to create historical and personal echoes of meaning and to create a connection to the ghosts of my past.
