ARTIST STATEMENT
My objective is to express an abundance of joyful emotions through my paintings, aiming to inspire and uplift the viewer.
I am dedicated to present group shows, invite to collaborate during International Art exhibitions, and invite artists to join at annual exhibitions in Germany and with Oliva gallery, Chicago.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Marianna Buchwald, a German born artist, based in Chicago is the founder and executive director of International Art Adventures. Ms, Buchwald has been delighted to present exhibitions and performances since 1990 to inspire artists to interact and share their work as part of International art and performance symposia, i.e.”The Ocean Between I to VI” with exhibitions at Kreismuseum Syke, Bei Koc Gallery Hannover and Oliva Gallery, Chicago. Ms. Buchwald studied Theater at the Folkwanghochschule, Essen, Germany, and received her BFA at the School of the Art Institute, Chicago, Since 1990, she taught theater and art at residencies at Victory Gardens Theater, art for Art Encounter, Evanston, German theater classes at the Goethe Institute and in the CPS schools of Chicago. Since 1990, she has curated exhibitions in Chicago, Syke, Hannover, and Berlin. Ms. Buchwald developed the International Art Exchange with German and US artists, supported by the Scharniertheater Hannover, Goethe Institute Chicago, Sister City Committee, Kreismuseum Syke, Bei Koc Gallery, Theater in der List, Freizeitheim Hannover, and as of 2023 with Oliva Gallery in Chicago.
Mrs Buchwald is also the executive director of Scharniertheater Hannover, a unique mask theater, created by her family. She works in Chicago as a teaching artist, tour guide, painter, and multimedia and performance artist and is a member of Woman Made Gallery,Art Encounter, Any Squared and Oliva Gallery. For more than 20 years she has delighted children and senior citizens with educational art and performance programs, teaching World Art, drawing, mask making, music, mime, storytelling, and theater. She grew up surrounded by adventures in art with her artist family in Hannover, Hans-Ulrich und Hella Buchwald. This summer 2023, together with Kimberly Oliva and a diverse group of artists from Chicago and Germany, she organized The Ocean Between VI, Culture Flow – art exhibition and symposium at Oliva Gallery, which included collaborations and workshops of artists, musicians, painters, and dancer
