I am voting for change, equality, women’s rights, climate change, social justice—our very survival on many levels. I feel anxious and angry about the direction in which our country and the world are moving. My work explores the intersection of language, gender, and power. I am interested in how meaning differs depending upon who is speaking and who is listening. This ambiguity of meaning allows for multiple interpretations and highlights some of the ways in which messages are sent and received. The viewer decides whether the message is one of aggression, a statement of fact, a gender stereotype, a voice of resistance, a challenge to larger societal messages, and perhaps all of the above.
